Sarcoidosis of the Stomach
Chronic inflammation of the stomach can cause an atropic gastritis, in which gastric rugal folds are diminished or lost. In this case of sarcoidosis, the gastric atropy is severe as noted by the absence of rugal folds in the body. Patients often feel full more quickly and usually produce greatly reduced amounts of gastric acid.
