Colon: The colon's function is primarily to reabsorb water from the stool and store it until elimination from the body is convenient. Diseases of the colon disrupt the ability of the organ to perform this function.

Crohn Disease
In this case, the colon lumen is narrowed and the mucosa is characterized by nodularity and pseudopolyps. These are features are those of an inflammatory bowel disease called Crohn disease which are fairly severe in this case.
